Our Leadership

Where Leadership Meets Compassion

The best church leader is a team. At First Presbyterian Church Florence, we’re blessed with an outstanding group of educated and dedicated believers who serve our members and the Florence community through guidance, compassion,
and service.

Rev. Dr. Kip Laxson
Senior Minister

I’m a North Alabama native, born and raised in Athens. My wife, Tami, and I recently celebrated 39 years of marriage after meeting as teenagers at church camp. She has been a faithful partner in both life and ministry, while also serving over 25 years in public education.

We’re blessed with two children: our daughter Kaitlyn (married to Patrick) lives in Prattville with our grandsons, Madison and Middleton, and our son Landon and his wife Silvia live in Birmingham.

I earned a degree in religion and philosophy from Trevecca Nazarene University, completed seminary at Vanderbilt Divinity School, and received a Doctor of Ministry from the University of the South, Sewanee.
